Three-Axis Milling: Three-axis milling on vertical milling machines allows for 2.5D and 3D machining of most parts. Using the X, Y, and Z axes, three-axis milling is suitable for most machining projects. When milling on a three-axis machine, each working face is machined independently, and the part needs to be positioned and held in a process called work-holding.
Four-Axis and Five-Axis Milling: Four-axis and five-axis milling allows for more complex three-dimensional machining, combined with rotary or rotary milling machines. Using the X, Y, Z, A axes and possibly the B axis, four-axis and five-axis milling is suitable for complex machining projects. On these machines, rotary parts can achieve complex contours and shapes.
Turning: Turning on a lathe can machine cylindrical parts. Using the X, Y, and A axes, almost all cylindrical machining projects can be handled. Lathes are limited to machining diameters of 7 inches, but can machine parts up to 32 inches in length.
Swiss Machining: Swiss machining is a specialized manufacturing technique capable of producing high-quality, precise parts with extremely high accuracy and speed. This process is particularly effective in the production of small parts, enabling efficient machining of complex shapes.
Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)
Wire EDM allows for high-precision machining, approaching 90-degree angles, using small wires and high currents to cut the material. Small-hole EDM is similar to wire EDM but does not require wires to pass through the part, allowing the creation of pockets and cavities within the material.
Divestment EDM is typically used for complex three-dimensional shapes, especially those with small or unusual angular shapes. This process provides finished parts without stress on the material. Divestment EDM has a wider range of applications, such as blind cavities, keyways, thin walls, or special cross-sections.
